Sleep Problems
The first symptoms that depression can affect your body in a physical way is sleep problem. Most people will find out that they have a hard time falling asleep. They may not sleep well and wake up in the middle of the night. However, some people who are facing with the sleep problem occurring from depression can also find themselves oversleep or sleep too much.

Overeating or Loss of Appetite
The eating habits changed due to depression. People suffering from depression can gain weight by
eating too much, which “soothes their frustration or misery.” In some cases, people loss their appetite because they feel stressed and depressed. The loss of appetite leads to weight loss. Louise also added that “depression has been linked to eating disorders like bulimia, anorexia, or binge eating. In women, the link between depression and anorexia or bulimia is especially strong” (Chang, Louise 2012).

Depression and heart disease are linked. If you are facing with the chest pain, you should see the health care provider in order to prevent yourself from any serious cause. Chest pain can also be a sign of depression as I mentioned before that there is a link between depression and heart disease.

“Chronic back pain” can develop in people with depression. When depressed, the intensity growth and back pain or disabling neck happened as a result.

Digestive Problems
Digestive system and the brain are strongly connected. Depression can get into your intestine as well and may experience stomachaches, nausea, indigestion, or diarrhea.

Depressed people are usually find themselves getting headaches everyday. People with migraines are more serious than people with major depression because they may seem worsen when depressed.

This is another physical sign of depression “you engage in escapist behavior such as substance abuse, compulsive gambling, reckless driving, or dangerous sports” (Smith, Melinda 2012).
